Fat Loss 4 Idiots? Don't Be An Idiot!

Practically everywhere you turn you'll see someone promoting the Fat Loss 4 Idiots product. I'm not going to promote it. In fact, I'm not even going to  pretend that I had a lot of doubts but once I got a good look at the product, I realized how amazing it is. I'm going to tell you the truth. If you buy Fat Loss 4 Idiots, you're an idiot!

I should know. My name is Shannon and I'm an idiot.

I bought the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program a few years ago (Actually, I think it was called "Weight Loss 4 Idiots" then). I was tempted by their claim that I could "lose 9 pounds in 11 days" by "eating foods that I choose". I was excited to fork over my money and begin my journey to weight loss success.

What happened? Well, when I tried to select my foods, I was presented with a list of food choices, many of which I didn't like. Despite what they'll tell you in the advertisements, this is a high protein low carb diet. And I'm a vegetarian. There were many "fake meat" products to choose from, but I don't like those either.

Still, I thought that I might be able to substitute foods that I did like and somehow apply the principle of the diet. I didn't like what I saw. Other review sites will tell you that you get to eat "4 square meals a day"  on the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program. But this isn't entirely true. You do get to eat four meals a day. However, the "meals" consist of one food only. How much of any one food can a person eat? Not much.

What about all the additional information that comes with the program? There was not a single piece of information on that site which I hadn't already heard from a free source.

Fat Loss 4 Idiots only works because it is a very low calorie, low carb diet. However, it's just that. A diet. It doesn't teach you how to properly eat so that you don't gain weight when you go off the diet. It's likely that this is just a temporary solution. The weight will come back.

The reality is that losing weight permanently isn't easy and it doesn't happen overnight. I know that's not a popular sentiment, but it's the truth. You are much better off making healthy changes over time that become a permanent part of your life.

Shannon Tani is a former fattie, who weighed over 220lbs. She has currently lost over 70lbs. One day she realized that people would rather hear dieting advice from someone who's "been there, done that" than a boring old doctor who's never been fat a day in his life. So she started the website Better Off Fat to share her experiences and ideas.

I've used Fat Loss 4 Idiots and found the food choices were quite good - certainly edible. You can't expect to be able to eat everything you want on a diet. I didn't lose 9lbs in 11 days and didn't expect to as I'm not actually overweight, but I did reach my target weight within 4 weeks (loss of 14lbs). Don't knock the diet just because you're a picky eater.

Typical idiot, reviewing a diet on the first day you started it. Come back and review after you've been on it a few weeks. Reviewing it now is just plain stupid.

As with all reviews of diet programs, you should take into consideration whether the reviewer has a vested interest in 'dissing' it.

In this case, the reviewer has a website of her own. When you click to visit 'Better Off Fat', you are taken to a site in the process of construction which has no information other than a plug for a competing diet program called Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle.

Call me cynical, but I think the reviewers impartiality is somewhat compromised.

I did this diet and lost a pound a day during the first cycle I did. I've done it off and on for about the last nine months and lost 35 pounds and have kept it off. I think the big factor was that I started walking the recommended 45 minutes a day when I started the diet. In the past nine months I've walked over 500 miles (I kept count). The diet's boring as crap but it works.

There is a vegetarian option with the diet now. I just printed out a diet plan myself that is primarily comprised of fruits and vegetables (I'm not a vegetarian, but sometimes I prefer a meatless meal). I will be back in about 11 days to give an update.

Some Q & A's To Understand FatLoss4Idiots

Q. "How does it work?"

A. Every time you eat, there are 2 types of hormones released by your brain into your bloodstream. One controls Fat Burning, and the other one controls Fat Storage.

The foods you eat, and when you eat them, controls how much of each hormone is released. This diet manipulates those hormones...

...so after each meal your body will produce a greater quantity of Fat Burning Hormones... and a much smaller amount of Fat Storing Hormones.

Q. "Will I have to starve on this diet?"

A. Absolutely not. Starving yourself just causes your body to STOP burning fat and start burning muscle.

Instead, you're actually going to be eating more often than you're probably used to.

Q. "So I can eat more and weigh less? Can I eat anything?"

Yes, eating more often (in the right way) will result in fat loss.

No, you can't eat candy or chips or cookies 10 times per day and lose weight (Sorry!) ... You must eat the right meals in the right patterns each day.

After 11 days have passed you'll be slimmer and lighter on the scale.

Q. "Is that all there is to it?"

A. No. The types of foods you eat are important, how often you eat is important, and here's the crucial key... This Diet System uses another technique called... CALORIE SHIFTING. You will give your body different types of calories each day... which confuses your metabolism and forces FASTER fat loss to happen.

"I lost 10 pounds in 11 days".... Listen guys its impossible. You certainly didnt lose that much fat - mostly water. Think about it - if you ate nothing at all you would at most be losing 2500 calories per day - about a pound every couple of days. Probably less because your body would go into starvation mode. So the diet is just a trick - low carbs causes the body to lose water for a few days - it tricks you into looking at just a few days because its not sustainable. Any diet with complicated rules that makes you eat less food will make you lose weight - you could makeup any rules you like as long as you eat less - say eat yellow foods before lunch and green foods after - any silly rule will work if you ultimately eat less. Eat less, exercise more, and ignore diets that get you to look at weight loss in a few days.
